Write for us
Honest Theatre Guide welcomes original contributions about the making of amateur theatre: scripts, rehearsal choices, stagecraft, production decisions and performance. We are interested in useful, specific ideas that respect the variety of groups and rooms where theatre happens.
What makes a strong pitch
Propose one clear subject and explain what a reader will understand or be able to consider after reading. A useful pitch has a defined scope, a distinct point of view and examples that illuminate the idea without relying on invented experience or unsupported claims. Please tell us whether the idea is original and mention any relevant interests that could affect how it is read.
A voice for curious makers
We favour plain, lively writing over jargon and grand claims. Contributions can explain a process, compare approaches, explore theatre history or examine a common assumption. Keep the focus on the theatre question itself, and be candid about trade-offs: a clever solution may still create a new problem.
Send a proposal
Send pitches through the Contact page, choosing the editorial question option and describing the proposed piece in the message. Please do not send a full draft unless we have asked for one. We cannot promise publication, and accepted work may be edited for clarity and fit.
